Jewerly theft are on the rise in Gold prices Soar

Jewelry theft increasing in Southern Colorado and police believe the high price of gold could link.

Gold reached its peak in August, and police say 11 News has been an increase in house break-ins and the store since.

Since July, has about 240 break-ins forcibly in Pueblo. In many cases, jewellery is the only thing taken, even if the electronic goods or other valuables easily accessible.

Glen Armstrong, an employee at the pocket change in Pueblo, said thieves targeting jewelry is no surprise to him. Armstrong has been buying and selling gold and silver for over 40 years.
